Public consultation on National R&I Strategy now open

The Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science is inviting contributions and submissions from interested persons and organisations on what they consider should form part of the next National Research and Innovation Strategy that will run to 2027.

The development of a new national strategy for research and innovation (R&I) is a key commitment in the Government’s Economic Recovery Plan 2021.  The new strategy will build on the lessons of delivering the previous national strategy, Innovation 2020, the overarching vision for which was for Ireland to become a Global Innovation Leader driving a strong sustainable economy and a better society. Within this was a focus on excellence, talent and impact.

The Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science is leading the development of this new national strategy, in consultation with key Government Departments and Agencies.  Public consultation will be critical in informing the Government’s strategic approach to the next Strategy which will also seek to strongly align with key Government, societal and economic priorities.
