Our Commercialisation Office focuses on three areas of activity:
- Connecting Maynooth University researchers with industry and the marketplace.
- Developing a culture of research commercialisation at Maynooth University.
- Identifying and commercialising the IP developed at Maynooth University.
The output of these activities contributes to the growth and development of Ireland’s knowledge economy and job creation.
We do things differently at Maynooth – and our approach has had a major impact on the local economy. We have one of Ireland’s strongest spin-out performances and play a key role in anchoring and retaining foreign direct investment. We develop project teams that combine multiple experts to solve real-world problems. We mobilise our academic ingenuity in ways few other universities achieve internationally.
We work closely with both business and social entrepreneurs to unlock the ingenuity in our faculty in a way that goes beyond the conventional, linear research-commercialisation model. This is an approach we believe gives Maynooth University a unique competitive edge in innovation. Finally, we close the circle by taking the experience we have gained from solving commercial challenges and bring that back to our students – to create the innovators and entrepreneurs of tomorrow.
